The Kabane

The Kabane are widely quoted as being “the mortals that treasured The Deus more then any other”, and they are often credited with being the main reason why Deusisum is as wide spread as it is.

Information:

As mentioned above, The Kabane highly revered and widely worshiped The Deus, this was to such a great degree that many of their social, technological and magical achievements were made to mirror The Deus. For example, The Kabane’s “Bodily Technology” was built to mirror The Deus’ “Flowers For The Mind”, although instead of synthetic pollen forming communication, Bodily Technology instead uses body parts like bones, flesh and different organs. Another example would be the planet of Okbarn which The Kabane “claimed” from The Arachnids, and spent thousands upon thousands of years constructing a planet wide inter connected city as a gift to their creators, their creation was aptly called “Arkana, The City of The Deus” which is the same name as the mortal settlement mentioned within The Book of Truths.

In terms of appearance, The Kabane are a quadrupedal race that have a similar appearance to many insects like cockroaches and beetles. Their skin seems to be rather similar to that of The Tree Folk as it resembles a modified bark-like material, however Kabane skin seems to be a lot more “flexible”, and unlike The Tree Folk’s, flora and plants can’t grow within The Kabane. Interestingly The Kabane don’t communicate like most mortals, instead they possess a shielded organ upon their heads called “The Glow” which has the ability to produce different colours displaying certain emotions.

Unfortunately in the modern age it is considered a rarity to see a Kabane alive because of the awful torment they were put through during The Wars of Magic and Science. To summarize, while The Second Age races were expanding through the galaxy they managed to locate Okbarn despite The Kabane hiding it from prying eyes, and the resulting invasion was so devastating it was said that the very skies of Okbarn were set ablaze. After The Kabane were defeated The Second Age races rounded up the ones that were still alive, and began performing unholy acts, horrific experiments and disgusting modification upon The Kabane, slowly turning them from devoted worshipers, to horrifically cruel monsters.

Different Types of Kabane:

  1. Warbanes- are Kabane that through torment and torture were transformed into the perfect machines of war. Due to their torture, Warbanes possess no intelligence or communication capabilities, instead they simply growl and roar while emitting a dark crimson light from their glow. In terms of appearance, Warbanes often resemble rotted/damaged trees, this is because their bark-like skin has become splintered and as a result their flesh is fully open to the elements. Interestingly these were the last Kabane to be seen, because at some point between The Wars of Magic and Science and the final between against Manish Broktok, all Kabanes seemingly disappeared without a single trace as to where they had ended up.
